AS at Cinemagic

On Thursday 26th, Students attended a course which introduced pupils to editing with Final Cut. Students did not prior knowledge of the editing software, but by the end of they knew how to set up a new project, import footage, edit skills, using effects and transitions, keyframing opening credits and how to export project to DVD.

On Friday 27th, Students attended Film Fusion: Music Composition for Film. This event developed their understanding and appreciation of the process of music composition for films.

The morning session was led by Miguel Mera, Principal Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, writer and film composer. This session supported students with their listening, appraising and composing skills and used a variety of film clips. Miguel took them through a range of examples of music in film to consider how composers achieve particular atmospheres, effects and meaning.

In the afternoon session Miguel interviewed music composer David Arnold (Stargate, Independence Day, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace) before he took a variety of questions from the audience.
