Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas everyone from the MIA Department. Remember that GCSE students are filming their horror movies and AS are preparing for there mock exam. For all students of MIA Christmas is a haven for film, both live action and animation, short or feature so anything you do watch sky+ it or get it recorded as it could make the difference to your grade!!!

GCSE Science Fiction: Yesterday's Future
GCSE students attended the coca-cola Cinemagic Film Festival at QFT today. The event was titled Science Fiction: Yesterday's Future and was l
led by Elaine Scaratt who is Chief Examiner
for Media Studies.
The day provided an introduction to film genre and the characteristic codes and conventions of science fiction. Significant moments in the genres history showed how science fiction film, like any other media text, is rooted in contemporary anxieties and issues. The interactive morning session was supported by clips from film such as Metropolis, Frankenstein, Back to The Future and Blade Runner. In the afternoon pupils were treated to a screening of Men in Black.
